Brown nail polish is THE nail color for fall 2014

Have you already started thinking about what nail colors you want to wear this fall? As much as I love wearing bright nail colors, I'm a big fan of darker colors like plum, black, dark gray and maroon so I was happy to hear that browns are the It color this season! SheFinds.com says many nail polish companies are featuring this color in their fall collections with OPI featuring four shades of brown in their Nordic Collection.

What do you think about brown nail polish? Will you try it out or will you stick to your usual nail colors?

Charlotte Tilbury Wants You to go to Sleep With Makeup On

Photos from BeautyBlitz.com

Famed British makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury recently spoke to Allure Magazine and shared some of her beauty tips, one of which includes going to sleep with makeup on. Tilbury launched a beauty line last year in the UK and Europe and it's currently available through Net-a-Porter.com.
On to the beauty tips! Tilbury suggests trying colored eyeliner to bring out the color of your eyes. She suggests plum for green eyes, reddish brown for blue eyes and copper or bronze for brown eyes.

Try using two shades of blush. This is a new one for me, I've never heard a suggestion like this before, but it makes sense. Tilbury says to try a fleshy color just below the apples of your cheeks and a brighter shade on the centers.

Don't match your foundation to your face, but rather match it to your neck or decolletage which is just a tad darker than your face. She says that blemishes and dark circles are more noticeable on a pale face.

Don't forget to curl your lashes! Tilbury says curling your lashes is like a push-up bra for your eyes.

Last but not least, she suggests taking all of your face makeup off, but leaving eyeliner and mascara on so you wake up with a lived-in and sexy look.

I realize she's a pro and all, but I've fallen asleep with my eye makeup on before and I looked scary when I woke up. So I won't be following that tip!

In case you want to see some of the beauty line, here are some more photos to drool over:
K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick, $32
Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher, $40

Charlotte's Magic Cream, $95
The Magic Cream is supposed to be the ish when it comes to priming and moisturizing your face. Tilbury says she can't do a face without it.

Nailsinc. NailKale: Nail Polish Made with Kale!

I subscribe to a disturbing amount of beauty and fashion related newsletters and most of the time it's nothing special. But today, I saw that Nail Inc. created a line of nail polishes formulated with kale, reports ITG.

They call it "superfood for nails to strengthen, illuminate and color."

It's pretty interesting and I'm tempted to try it out. They've got a base coat, four polishes and an illuminator that has iridescent pearls to brighten the nail bed and give the appearance of whiter tips.
The base coat goes for $15 and the rest go for $14.

What do you think of nail polish supercharged with kale?

Rite Aid is Going to Start Selling High End Makeup?!

Yep, you read that right. Rite Aid is stepping up their makeup game and will start selling brands such as Beautyblender, Senna Cosmetics, Eddie Funkhouser and Alison Raffaele Cosmetics as well as a nail bar, report WWD. They're also going to have beauty advisors to help with products and color matching.

I think this a step in the right direction, but it would be nice if they were going to incorporate more well-known brands. Maybe I'm just behind on things, but of the cosmetic brands that Rite Aid is going to offer, I've only heard of Beautyblender and Senna Cosmetics.

Whenever I buy drugstore makeup I typically buy it at Target, Walmart or Walgreens. I've never been to a Rite Aid where I was really impressed with their selection or the layout of the beauty products. Where do you typically buy your drugstore makeup?

What do you think of Rite Aid's move to expand their beauty offerings? Do you think it will do well?

Marge Simpson for MAC

I've always been a little weary of MAC. The loyalty of people to MAC reminded me a lot of the allegiance of people to Apple products and it kind of weirded me out. I have nothing against the brand, but I just never got into it. Years later, I finally bought a few products online because there was a deal going on and once I tried an eye shadow, I could see why people were so hooked. The eye shadow was unbelievably pigmented and went on smooth. Despite the fact that I liked what I bought, I never became a full-blown convert.

But now I learn that they're coming out with a collab with Marge Simpson... I just might have to change my mind.

I've been a Simpson fan since Bart was telling people to eat his shorts. I kinda wish they had some products with Lisa on them so it'd kinda be like the Sharon and Kelly Osbourne campaign, but whatevs.

That Trillion Dollar Look Quad, $44
Marge's Extra Ingredients Quad, $44
Powder Blush, $24

Grand Pumpkin Lipglass, $16.50 (Bright, creamy orange)

Should Rihanna Start her Own Fashion and Beauty Brand?

We all know that Rihanna has fronted a MAC campaign, has appeared in ads for Balmain, Vita Coco, Nivea, Covergirl and Gucci and had a collection with River Island, but what about her very own line of products? According to Stylelite.com, Rihanna has trademarked her last name, Fenty, to use on a range of products from clothes to lingerie to beauty. Her MAC Viva Glam 2 line is set to be released in September, she tweeted the ad earlier this month.

According to Trademark documents, new trademark documents were filed for the following names:
Fenty Apparel, Fenty Beauty, Fenty Clothing, Fenty Cosmetics, Fenty Face, Fenty Intimates, Fenty Lingerie, Fenty Makeup, Fenty Nails, Fenty Swim, Fenty Swimwear, Boomflick, Fenty Corp, Robyn, Fenty88 and Rhi Rhi.

Rihanna's had a lot of luck with her own fragrance and she's due to release a sixth fragrance, but this time it's for men. What type of product do you think Rihanna will release? She has a super sexy style so lingerie or even nails would be a great move. What do you think?

A girl without freckles is like a night without stars

I was browsing the interwebs when I came across a "thought" from Into The Gloss, which says that models with freckles don't get cast in beauty campaigns and then there is an affiliate link to Topshop's Freckle Pencil.

I'm almost 100% positive that I've never seen a model with freckles in a beauty ad or campaign unless it was for one of those real beauty campaigns which feature "real women."

I have freckles on my nose and cheeks and when I'm not wearing makeup they can make my face look dirty. Sometimes, I look in my car mirror when I'm not wearing makeup and I swear they're multiplying like little bunnies!

I don't hate my freckles, but I don't love looking like I have dirt on my face, either. While I don't agree at all with freckled models not getting cast in beauty-related jobs, I have to wonder why a company would create a freckle pencil.

Thoughts?

My August Beauty Crush List

Did you know that Sephora is currently offering a bonus points on purchases through August 10th?!

It's been a minute since I've shopped Sephora because I've been burying my nose in books, but I'm all about somehow reaching VIB Rouge status one day so I'm all over this promo. The only thing I really need right now is a serum, but there are so many new and tantalizing beauty products out right now...

This is what I'm currently lusting over:

Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin Nail Lacquer $50
Is this not the most luxurious nail polish you've ever seen?! I did a write-up on this product on Fashion Gone Rogue if you're interested. This is sold out, but I'm sure it won't be long before it's restocked. Did you notice the woman on the heel?

YSL Fusion Ink Foundation $60
I've only tried YSL's lip liners and lipsticks so I have no experience with their face makeup, but I'm sure it's just as unbelievably awesome as their other range of products. This foundation is supposed to leave a smooth, matte look that can last up to 24 hours. I don't ever plan on wearing makeup for 24 hours, but still, it's good to know, right?

Foreo Luna Mini $139

I use my Clarisonic brush religiously. I freaking love it, but I'm a lazy girl who doesn't like buying and switching out brush heads every so often. I mean, I don't like the idea of using an old, dirty brush on my face, but I'm not always on top of my brush head game so I forget. With the Foreo, there are no replacements to buy and I'm digging the shape of it. This is the mini version, the regular version is more of an egg shape:

Foreo Luna $199

Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask $45
Last but not least, this rose stem cell facial mask is on my list of lusts because it utilizes rose stem cells which kinds of grosses me out yet intrigues me and it reminds me of old school hair gel. This is an anti-aging mask that's formulated to counteract dullness, dehydration and fine lines and wrinkles. My skin is combination and for the majority of my life has been on the oilier side but since moving to the Rocky Mountains, my cheeks are parched like a mofo and I do what I can to keep them hydrated and happy.

So, those are the products that I'm currently crushing on. I'll let you know what I end up buying!

Have a great day!

CVS Launches Their Own Makeup Line

Happy Saturday! My husband and I participated in The Color Run today and we are both beat. However, I wanted to share some news with you, there's a new drugstore beauty line and it's by no other than CVS! I used to go to CVS all the time when I lived in California; I was all about their Extra Care Bucks. But since moving to Colorado where there are no CVS', I've mainly stuck to Target, Walmart and Walgreens for my drugstore beauty buys.

Anyway, I read on SheFinds, that CVS announced yesterday that they're releasing a line of makeup called Makeup Academy or MUA and there will be 145 products ranging from lipstick to makeup brushes to falsies. I took a look at the MUA page on CVS (link above) and they're not super cheap, but definitely in the affordable range.

Here are some of the products from the MUA line that really stood out to me:

MUA Natural Ultra Fine Lash Kit, $9

MUA Pro Starter Set, $25

MUA Liquid Lipstick #200 Brick, $9
MUA Lip Color Crayon, #352 Mauve
MUA Lip Color Crayon #352 Mauve, $7
MUA Moisture Balm, #305 Peach
MUA Moisture Balm #305 Peach, $5

What do you think of these products? Some of the packaging reminds me of MAC and some remind me of Wet n Wild. I might have to order some things online to see how they are!

Hello!

I took a long break from blogging and decided it was time to start up again! I don't feel like I ever truly gave it my all because there was always something going on, but this time I'm really going to try and make an effort to be consistent with it.

I really hope to have a useful blog that can provide you with helpful information. So, here it goes!
